Margareth Geddy (Tanzania) - Ubora Media

Reason 1: Proven Media Leadership in African Tourism Storytelling I have consistently used media as a powerful tool to promote African tourism. As a TV producer and journalist with Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation’s Tanzania Safari Channel, I produced impactful tourism content that showcased Tanzania’s wildlife, culture, and attractions. Beyond Tanzania, I have partnered with tourism boards including Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, and Tanzania to produce compelling media campaigns that position Africa as a competitive tourism destination.

Reason 2: Recognized Impact and Influence Across Africa My work has earned both local and international recognition. I was named Best Television Journalist in Tanzania (2023–present), recognized by the U.S. Embassy in Tanzania as one of the top tourism and conservation content creators, and recently honored by the Tanzania Tourist Board as a leading female content creator in the tourism and conservation space. These honors highlight the influence and credibility I have built in driving Africa’s tourism narratives.

Reason 3: Converting Media Influence into Real Tourism Growth Beyond storytelling, I have successfully translated my influence into tangible tourism activities. After participating in the Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit & Challenge 2023, where intra-Africa travel was emphasized, I organized a group trip in 2024 that brought together travelers from across Africa and beyond to explore Namibia. We experienced Swakopmund, Windhoek, Sandwich Harbour, the Namib Desert, and a boat cruise in Walvis Bay. This initiative demonstrates my ability not only to report on tourism but to actively contribute to intra-African travel and tourism growth.
